"Are You Sure You Want To Delete This Friend?"

Yesterday morning, I opened my laptop and started deleting facebook friends.
I never really log on the site anymore, and I was getting annoyed that every time I logged on I saw updates from people I really do not care about. So who got deleted? People from high school that I will probably never see again, the random people I met in college that I will never see again, the not so random people I met in college that I might see again but were really never my friends, those two guys from vegas, that old coworker I only added to be polite...you get the idea.
I ended up deleting over 500 people. I had almost 900 friends. So now I'm down to 320-something and I love it. I love facebook again!
I logged into facebook and my timeline is filled with posts from people I know and like! I know some people think about deleting their accounts all together but I recommend trying this cleanse first...
You have to be cruel when you do it but the end result is worth it.

  1. OMG! Rahiel recently did this and...I really wanted to as well, BUT I have like 800 friends, and felt overwhelmed, but I think you've convinced me. I can definitely relate, and I'm starting the deletion process. LOL

  2. It's a good feeling, isn't it?! I was really hesitant about deleting people at first, thinking "what if..." but it's so cathartic and almost addictive. And healthy too! :-)

  4. I haven't purged all the people that I SHOULD on facebook but I do recall finally letting go of one connection a few weeks ago. It was this guy that I short-term dated who I really didn't want to get updates about. I didn't even want to accidentally see his name.

It took me a few months a get up the courage to do it and one day when I had to momentum, I just did it. I still had those nagging voices though, "What if you become friends again?...what if you need something from him?...blah blah blah." But I fought the temptation and I did it and was so RELIEVED when it was finally done. Now for those other 300+ people that need to go.

One day at a time grasshoppa...

  5. Once I accidentally logged on under my sister. I didn't even realize it, because I'm use to seeing the "news feed" full of people that I don't know.

  6. I just can't do it. Sorry. I have to keep the list of 800+ friends that I barely know alive. I'm adding by the day.

I think it just all depends on WHY you use Facebook. Some ppl only need to keep in contact with their close friends, some need thousands to help promote their work.

Use it according to your own needs!

  7. Ok...what do you do when they realize you've deleted them and request to re-add you?!?

  8. Actually that happened, someone from college realized they'd been deleted and re-requested me. I just accepted them and took it as a sign they wanted to keep in touch
