Going to dive into a controversial topic here...abortion.
Every woman has an opinion on the procedure. I've always been pro-choice. I just don't understand how you can tell another woman what to do with her own body.
In high school, I remember that talking about people getting pregnant was terrifying...the thought would pop into everyone's head, "well is she going to get an abortion?"
That feeling of terror lasted through high school and college and a bit after.
But now that I'm knocking on 25...it's a little harder for my thought process to jump to the abortion option.
Someone I know just told me she's pregnant. She never mentioned even considering getting an abortion. Her tone told me that it wasn't even an option.
It got me thinking...does the ability to raise a child have to do with your age?
Is it okay to think you're too young to have a kid up until a certain age? Is 25 and over the time when you just have the child and make it work.
One of my mothers friends got pregnant at 30-something, and while she was only in a casual relationship with the father, she kept the child because she was 30-something and that's what grown ups do.
Don't go jumping to conclusions guys, I'm not pregnant, just thinking out loud. Share your thoughts!
Funny you posted this because I just had a convo w/ a friend of mine who thought for, about a week, that she was pregnant. Being 25 and employed, she too, talked as though abortion didn't cross her mind. So maybe we do grow out of the "planned parenthood" stage. I think w/ age we learn to expect the unexpected and just go w/ the flow.
ReplyDeleteDionne said it well. Most kids dont understand that sex is a responsibility. At some point you have to be mature enough to handle your responsibilities. usually by the time you turn 25, you have a better grasp on this concept. plus, for some reason, 25 is the age that it becomes acceptable to have kids!? yesterday, I told my mom that my stomach was hurting. She nonchalantly asked if i was pregnant and even asked again after i said no. it cant just be gas or sumthin?
